Star of the West Casino and the Franklin Hotel

Callahan's, Durty Nelly’s, and the Veranda offer a unique variety of
entertainment experiences.
Callahan's Sports bar is located on the main floor of the Franklin, it is
named after Thomas Callahan who was a stage coach driver for Wild Bill Hickok
and Great Uncle to Current Hotel Owner Bill Walsh. Callahan's was also part of
the Hotel's massive restoration and is complete with checker board marble
floors, pressed tin ornamental ceilings, an enormous antique back-bar, and
beveled leaded glass windows. Callahan's is home to the Black Hills Jazz and
Dixieland Band as well as other great acts. It is also a great place to plan a
reception, or dinner party.
Durty Nelly’s is located on the lower level. Nelly’s is one of the town's
oldest and only Irish pubs and offers both Guiness and Harps on Tap. Cards have
been played at the Franklin for almost 100 years. Today the Franklin card room
offers both Black Jack and Poker and is located adjacent to Durty Nelly’s.
Back when gaming was not legal they used tables that could quickly be converted
into a chair for those unexpected visits from the local law, one of these
antique Poker-Table-Chairs is on display on the third floor of the Hotel.
The Veranda is a seasonal bar located on the second floor of the Property.
Recently, the Veranda went under an extensive restoration as the weather had
taken its toll during the past century. The balcony was stripped down to the
support beams and rebuilt, complete with the original light posts surrounding
the balcony with a warm inviting glow. During the summer months you can drink
your favorite cocktail while enjoying the best view of Deadwood's Historic Main
Street. The Veranda is also a great location to plan a reception and adjoins
with a private room often used for weddings, meetings, and group dinners.
